The Beginning
|
I sit here. No one else is around at this point. Tia, Marin,
and Kadi are down on earth. Living the life I once had. Growing old with their
families. They were chosen to leave nearly thirty years ago. On Earth, it
is the year 3026. I have been in charge of the Power for three thousand years.
My family grew older and passed away. Now I sit. Watching my great, great,
great, great, great, great, great, too many greats. Grandchildren grow. My
family has continued through the ages.
Ahh, to be young again. Though I look the same as I did when I was eighteen,
I feel so old. Three thousand years here is too long. Should I trade my time
in? Maybe to continue my family? No. I couldn't if I wanted too. My husband
has been gone for thousands of years. My dear Thomas. How I wish I could be
there with you now.
I took up Dance's position as guardian when I was forty eight. My son Jacob
was twenty at the time. He didn't want me to leave. Though Thomas understood,
he couldn't bare it. Four months after I took this, he was killed in a car
crash. Now, he is with my twin. The other half of my heart. The one I fought
so damn hard to see. Even just once. What I wouldn't give to have those times
back again. To fight along his side. Oh how I wish.
But what's done is done. As Dance used to say. The ladies and I have taken
up residence on Kronos. The planet that was destroyed by Daatar. The Kronosians
made a good life on Earth. I am still happy for them.
I could consider myself lucky I suppose. I do have a friend here. She was
offered the watcher of yellow ten years after me. Trini had a good life with
Adam. Good how I miss him too. I wish I could see them all again. Just once.
The power of the universe in my hands. And no control over it.
"Jessi?" I turned to see my valued friend standing behind me.
"What can I do for you Trini?" Through the centuries, I have yet
to lose this damned accent.
"You look heavy in though."
"Yes, trying not to think though. It's starting to hurt." She chuckled
softly. I watched her as she looked out the window at the healthy vegetation.
She hadn't changed. Still the spunky Trini I first met many many years ago.
"Thinking about them again?" She wondered as she turned to me.
"Don't I always?" I added with a smile.
"Ever thought about going back? Maybe changing things?" I was quiet
for a moment. Yes I had. On many occasions. But, could I bring myself to do
it? Could I handle seeing them all again?
"No. I see no reason too."
"I would." That surprised me; "I would
change a lot of things ."
"The Power?" She thought for a second.
"No. I would keep the Power. But I would have grown some balls and asked
your brother out." I let out a belly laugh.
"My brother? Why? When I came back to the states, you were seeing Billy.
After he broke it off before the conference, you got to know Adam. What more
could you ask for?" She smiled and sat next to me.
"Billy was a wonderful friend. But it's obvious that we weren't meant
to be. Adam ... he was incredible. But he always seemed like he was hiding
something. Something deep down." He never told her? I looked out the
window again. The triple moons were making them selves known.
"Lets take a walk Trini." I stood suddenly and walked to the door.
"Need a recharge?" She teased. I glanced in the mirror that stood
behind my door. The long time Silver streak never faded on Kronos. With three
moons to charge it, I rarely lost power. I had meticulously braided it a century
ago. Just the streak. Having cut my hair only a few times, Trini as well,
the long hair was tied in a large bundle at the middle of our backs.
"No. I thought maybe we could go to the temple for a while." She
smiled knowing exactly why.
"Need a replay." She stated. With a smile, she followed me out of
the room.
We headed down the long corridor to the main door. Though it was night time,
the moons made it look as if it were day time. The temple was nearly two miles
away from the sleeping quarters. The walk was almost always pleasant. Before
accepting the ladyship, both Trini and I studied biology in college. The planet
of Kronos proved to be more then adequate for us to continue studies over
the centuries.
The temple was built two thousand and five hundred years ago. Trini and I
had been instrumental in its construction. It fast became a place of worship
for what ever god or gods you chose. The ladies had taken up there originally.
Then ventured out to the rest of the planet. The temple possessed a lot of
magic. Mainly passed down from my biological father. There were a lot of things
about it that couldn't be explained.
As the watcher of Yellow and I approached the temple, I felt a peace come
over me. I knew she had felt it as well when we looked at each other. It was
a rarity that we felt it. It meant that somewhere in the universe, a Power
holder was at peace. Most likely killed in battle. Though not many held the
powers any longer, they were still needed. I felt the same calming and peace
when Thomas, Jason and Adam passed on. Jason was the only one to pass in battle.
For his own reasons, he continued to hold the First Power 'til he passed.
Tyrannosaur Red Dragon was his Powers title.
Slowly we walked into the temple. Several of the planets inhabitants occupied
the main floor. Breein was one of them.
"Well, it's about time our oh graceful leader decided to show her face."
She said with a grin. After all these years, Bri had yet to lose her dry sense
of humor.
"Were you in need of something?" I inquired.
"No. Just wondering when you were coming out of your slum, that's all."
She teased.
"I wasn't in a slum. Just ... keeping to myself for a while." I
shot back.
"For two weeks?" I threw my arms up and headed for the next level
of the temple.
"She'll come out Bri. She always has." Trini informed her.
"I hope your right." Yellow and White watched as I disappeared up
the stairs. Had I really been out of it for two weeks? No, it couldn't be.
The small room I entered resembled that of a dojo. No equipment, just a thick
mat on the floor. I slipped the gown like robe off my shoulders to reveal
what resembled an Earth gi. I had recreated many through out the time on Kronos.
I wore them out as fast as I could make them.
Tightening my hair, so not to slip out of place, I stood in the middle of
the mat. I closed my eyes tight. The vigorous training had never left me.
Though what I practiced was now considered ancient. Through accepting the
lady position, I was able to excel at certain arts. Eight, tenth degree black
belts, and six ninth degree black belts. Three hundred years after I left
earth, the martial arts were outlawed. Too much violence. It nearly broke
my heart when I found out. I had heard that all to often while growing up
in boarding schools.
My style was considered flawless now. But, no matter how much I practiced,
I always felt something was missing. The routine was hard. As is always was.
Before long, I found myself crying. Sitting in the middle of the floor with
my face in my hands. Thomas and Jason were what was missing. After three thousand
years. I could never get over it.
"Jessi." I heard in my mind. Slowly I raised my face. Looking around;
"Jessi." That voice. So familiar.
"Y ...yes?"
"I am still with you Jessi. All of us are." Oh my God.
"Tommy? Where ..."
"We will always be with you." I stood quickly. Looking around the
room feverishly; "Relax Jessi. All of us are here. Jason, Adam, Billy,
Rocky, Zack, Aisha, Tanya, Kimberly, Kat, Kristy all of us."
"Where?" I cried; "Why now? It's been three thousand years."
"You needed the time Jessi. You couldn't have handled it any sooner."
"Please can I see you?" There was a hesitation; "Tommy, Jason
..."
"In a way." I frowned. The tears still streaming down my face; "The
main reason we are here now, ... the calm peaceful feeling you felt a short
while ago?" I nodded.
"Yes."
"His name was Koten. He uh ... was the last direct decedent of ... ours."
The last?
"Please. Tommy please." The bright light nearly blinded me when
it appeared. Closing my eyes, I stepped back. I had to blink several times
before I could see anything. When my vision cleared, my eyes landed on a lone
figure. Standing ten meters away from me. The large frame, the short dark
hair and the midnight brown eyes. I lost feeling in my legs and fell to my
knees; "J ...Jason?" I all but whispered.
"It's me Jess. You're looking well." I didn't know what to say or
do. So I knelt there a stared. It had been three thousand years since I had
seen him last. But he looked as if nothing had changed; "Jessi,"
He started as he walked closer to me; "You have been floating lately."
"Floating?" I asked almost breathless.
"Going from your present to three millennia in the past." He stopped
next to me and knelt down; "We have come here, through the Powers to
remind you of the love you still have." I frowned. I couldn't think straight.
It all became reality when my twin placed his hand on my shoulder. My world
crashed around me as I threw my arms around him. He let out a soft chuckle
as I nearly knocked him over. I could say nothing as I held my brother.
"Jessi?" I heard from behind me. Slowly letting go of Jason, I turned.
Chocolate brown eyes met mine.
"Tommy?" With a smile, the man my heart still belonged to held out
his arms. I glanced at Jason then stood and ran into the awaiting embrace.
"Always remember how much we love you." Tommy looked at Jason.
"I'll make sure Dance tells Trini and Bri." Jason told him. With
a nod, Tommy loosened the embrace. He slipped his arm between us and lifted
my chin with his fingers.
"What's going on?" I demanded.
"You'll see Jessi. You'll see." With a warm smile, Tommy leaned
down til his lips touched mine. My world began to spin. The eight colors passed
over my eyes. Then nothingness.
I awoke to a warm presence next to me. I opened my eyes to see a small fireplace
next to me. Frowning, I sat up and looked around. My eyes widened when I looked
behind me. Eleven pairs of eyes were looking at me with smiles on their faces.
"Oh god I must be dreaming." I reached up and rubbed my eyes. Soft
chuckles and laughs reached my ears.
"Same old Jessi." Kim mused. I dropped my hands and turned fully
to them.
"Where am I?" I could think of nothing else to say.
"You are between Jessi." Came the familiar Australian accent.
"Between? Between what?" I stood slowly, hoping my knees would hold
out. It had been three thousand years since I had seen anyone in person. It
was a shock to the brain. Kat grinned as she stepped closer and hugged me.
"Neither in the present nor the past."
"Oh." I released her; "What am I doing here?" Adam stepped
forward. My heart lurched to me throat.
"You and Trini were talking about going back." I nodded slightly.
Nervous. My feeling never died for him. And he knew it; "Do worry Jessi.
They all know." He added with a smile; "We have brought you here
to see if you really want, to go back and change something." I frowned.
"How?" Not being able to resist, Adam stepped closer and threw his
arms around me. It was as welcome as the ones from Tommy and Jason.
"We're going to take you there." Adam gave me a light kiss on the
lips before backing away. Before I had a chance to say another thing, the
eleven of them surrounded me. I looked at them incredulously before being
enveloped in a Silvery White light.
